Kona Island

“ReefWatchers” is a vital, ongoing volunteer coral reef monitoring program located on the coast of Kona (west Hawaii County.)  Now in the fifth year of data collection, the Hawaii Sea Grant developed and funded program is able to gather and provide data for state resource managers.

Hanauma Bay, Oahu

The Hanauma Bay Education Program at Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve, Oahu, provides information on coral reef ecology and snorkel and SCUBA diving etiquette. The information is aimed at mitigating environmental damage and creating a sense of stewardship for the one million plus people who visit the Bay each year. The program is a partnership between the City and County of Honolulu and Hawaii Sea Grant.
